Create ring groups for your support team in Pune or dev team in Bangalore. Route calls intelligently based on time zones.

Browser-Based

No need to ship hardware to India. Your team just logs in via Chrome or Safari and starts making/receiving calls instantly.

Startup VoIP FAQs

Do I need special hardware to call my team in India?

No. StartACall is a softphone solution. You and your team can use any modern web browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari) on laptops or mobile devices.

Is VoIP legal in India?

Yes, for international calling. While India has regulations regarding domestic VoIP-to-PSTN routing (toll bypass), using a service like StartACall to communicate between international offices and Indian teams is fully compliant.

Why is the call quality sometimes poor with other providers?

Calls to India often suffer from latency due to poor routing paths. We prioritize routes that have direct interconnects in Mumbai and Chennai to minimize hops and reduce jitter.

Can I get an Indian phone number?

Virtual Indian numbers (DID) are heavily regulated and require strict KYC (Know Your Customer) documentation (business registration in India). However, you can instantly call TO India from any number we provide.

Ready to Scale Your Team?

Communication shouldn't be the bottleneck for your startup's growth in India.

Calling India: what to know

India answers on the country code +91, with the capital in New Delhi and most business concentrated around Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore. The working language for business is Hindi, English, 21 other scheduled languages, and local offices generally keep hours of 9:30 to 18:30 IST. Bangalore tech firms often have West-Coast US shifts running 18:00 to 04:00 IST.

Outbound calls on StartACall need no phone number and no app. You place them from the browser, and you only add a US or Canada number when you also want to receive inbound calls.

Most mobiles in India sit on operators such as Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, Vodafone Idea (Vi). Indian mobile numbers are 10 digits starting with 6, 7, 8, or 9. Operators have been free to port across these prefix ranges since MNP, so prefix no longer reliably identifies the carrier.

India runs on UTC plus 5:30, and it does not observe daylight saving, so the time difference stays constant through the year.

How to dial India

+91 routes the call to India.

  3. 3
